Thunder and lightning
November 25 , 2021As we all know, when the charge in a thunderstorm cloud reaches a certain amount, a strong electric field is formed between different parts of the cloud or between the cloud and the ground. When the charge accumulates to a certain degree,discharge occurs between the cloud and the cloud or between the cloud and the ground. The occurrence of thunder and lightning comes from the accumulation of electric charges inside the thundercloud; this means that as long as the changes in the electrostatic field in space can be accurately detected, the accumulation of electric charges in the thundercloud can be indirectly understood.
According to the relevant meteorological data recorded around the world over the years, certain conditions are required for the occurrence of thunder and lightning, and it has regularity: When a thunder cloud approaches or forms, the ground electrostatic field changes in a certain way. In the standard measurement state (plain, flat bottom, no tip effect), the average value of the electrostatic field in fine weather is about 150V/M, When a thunderstorm cloud appears, the electric field strength of the electrostatic field can increase to +/-15KV/M, or even higher. When a single thunderstorm cloud layer is combined with a thunderstorm cloud, the time for the electric field strength to increase is about 15-20 minutes. We believe that when the electric field strength exceeds 2KV/M, thunderclouds are forming or approaching. The changes in electric field strength collected by the atmospheric field meter and the back-end software platform algorithm can quickly and accurately predict local lightning strikes in advance.
