At the 2021 annual meeting of the International Electrotechnical Commission IEC/SC37A "Low-Voltage Surge Protector (SPD)" held a few days ago, my country’s first international standard proposal in the field of IEC low-voltage surge protectors was approved. The standard name and series number is:  IEC TS 61643-05“Low voltage surge protective devices-Part 05: Monitoring device of Surge protective devices（MDS）-Requirements and test methods”

The project is based on my country’s technical accumulation and long-term practice in the field of smart SPD, and is a technical specification formulated for the main component of smart SPD-surge protector monitoring devices. The main technical content includes: monitor surge protectors (SPD)  performance indicators and working status, and the performance requirements and test methods of the monitoring device (MDS) that communicates with the host computer.

The successful establishment of this international standard not only indicates that China's technology in the field of low-voltage surge protectors has gained a leading position in the international standard, but also shows that the intelligent SPD products developed and marketed by Chinese manufacturers have been recognized by the international market. This standard will not only improve the technical response capability of my country's mine defense industry in the international trade market, but will also become an important milestone for my country's use of advanced technology to ensure public security for mine protection. Jinli Electric is a member unit of the National Lightning Arrester Standardization Technical Committee and the Sensitive Technology Branch of the Chinese Institute of Electronics. It is also a member of the IEC standard revision work.
